Marina Bay Sands Gets Wonder Full

11 February 2011, Singapore – From 17 February 2011 at 8:08pm, Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza will be the home to a spectacular 13-minute nightly show feature that involves giant water screens, vibrant multicolour  high powered lasers, search lights, spot lights, fountains surround sound, strobe, bubble factories, LED lighting, high definition video projection and special effects.  Slated to launch in February, Wonder Full will enthrall audiences as they are taken on a journey that explores humanity and the wonders of life.

This musical will light up the skies seven days a week when it opens to the public, here’s the show time

Wonder Full will be shown nightly, weather permitting
Sunday to Thursday: 8pm, and 9.30pm
Friday and Saturday: 8pm, 9.30pm and 11pm

100 specialist architectural, design, creative, musical, engineering, technical and IT resources from the Hong Kong, Australian and Singapore offices of Laservision, a developer of large scale multimedia shows and architectural illuminations, took three years to develop and refine this visual treat for the eyes.

The adjustable platforms at the Event Plaza will allow the audience to enjoy the three massive water screens that will be illuminated by high definition video projection and optically pumped full colour laser systems. Custom-designed media towers will bathe and envelope the audience in a true 3-dimensional fantasy including surround sound, special effects and dynamic lighting.

The technology used for the show is made up of many green initiatives. Energy efficient lighting technologies of over 250,000 intelligent Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) which has a longer lifespan are used contributing less to landfill waste and emissions.  The show relies on a range of cutting edge and sophisticated mediums instead of an arsenal of pyrotechnics to provide the wow factor.   On special occasions, zero fallout pyrotechnic technologies will be used to minimise the environmental impact whilst still maintaining the wow effect.

This made-in-Singapore performance is led by renown Singaporean composer Iskandar Ismail and maestro/conductor Darrell Ang and brings together budding musical talents together.  Child prodigy violinist Gabriel Ng, 16, Singapore Idol Finalist Joakim Gomez, 19 and the talented 16-year-old Amni Musfirah.

The creative hand behind this powerful score is Iskandar, who is noted for his works as a music director and composer for several Singapore National Day Parades and most recently as the music producer and composer for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games ceremonies last year.

Working closely with Iskandar is Darrell Ang, Singapore-born maestro and conductor who has international acclaim and has been appointed the “Young Associate Conductor” for The Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Currently based in Europe, Maestro Ang is the winner of the 50th Besancon International Young Conductor‟s Competition in 2007. Darrell single handedly beckoned the140 strong Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, which included 10 sopranos, 10 altos, 8 tenors and 8 basses whilst they recorded the original soundtrack for Wonder Full on location in Slovakia.

Besides accomplished talents, Wonder Full gives the up-and-coming Singaporean talents a platform to showcase their incredible gifts. Gabriel Ng, Singapore‟s prodigious child violinist has joined this ensemble of Singaporean talents for Wonder Full. Having studied at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in Great Britain since 2005, he came into the national limelight at the mere age of nine when he won Singapore‟s National Piano and Violin competition in 2003. On the global platform, he was the winner of the International Andrea Postacchini Violin competition in Italy in 2007 at the age of 13.

The original soundtrack for Wonder Full will also include a rendition of one of Louis Armstrong‟s recognizable works, „What a Wonderful World‟ which was performed by Singapore Idol Finalist, Joakim Gomez and Amni Musfirah, the 16 year old who performed a solo ballad rendition at the Youth Olympic Games.
