18 January 2013, Sepang, Malaysia – Malaysian long-haul low cost carrier AirAsia X will be launching direct flights to its 14th destination between Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 16 February 2013. The airline will operate 3 flights weekly and increase its frequency to 4 times weekly from 1 May 2013 onwards. Flight frequency may be adjusted according to seasonality.
Jeddah is the gateway to holy cities of Madinah and Makkah and the airline hopes to provide more affordable travel for Muslims in Malaysia and throughout the region to perform their holy pilgrimage of Hajj and Umrah.
