Japan Airlines Postpones Narita – Helsinki Boeing 787 Flights

5 February 2013, Tokyo – Japan Airlines will be postponing the launch of its nonstop service between Tokyo and Helsinki on 25 February 2013 on its Boeing 787-8 aircraft since the aircraft’s grounding from 16 January 2013.   No rescheduled dates have been announced yet.

The Tokyo – Helsinki was originally a four times a week flight departing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday  and Saturday.

According to a Reuters report, Japan Airlines Co Ltd has plans to seek compensation from Boeing. Grounding the seven jets would cost the airline up to US$8 million from its earnings through the end of Quarter 1 2013.  The Boeing 787s in the world have been grounded pending investigations to find the cause of the two incidents with the lithium-ion batteries on board in Japan and the United States .   There was a battery fire on a JAL 787 flight at Boston airport t in America and an ANA flight had to execute an emergency landing after battery problems.
