SONY XQD S Series Memory Cards Up to 168MB/s Transfer Speed

Sony XQD S Series

6 July 2012, Singapore – Sony XQD S Series Memory Cards (QD-S32/S64) is the forefornt of ultra-fast read and write memory cards with a higher write/read speed of up to 168MB/s compared to the Sony XQD H Series cards launched in January this year (125MB/s).   These cards can be used with the Nikon D4 currently.

The Sony XQD S series can record up to 108 frames in RAW format in continuous shooting mode.  You can shoot a 100m sprint from start to end in a single, sustained burst of RAW images at a shooting speed of 10 frames per second (fps).   This is faster than the theoretical maximum speed of existing CompactFlash devices and reduces transfer times by 30% comparing to the fastest C cards and shortens it by more than 30% when measured against conventional CF cards.

Check out the video here.

The Sony XQD S Series is the card for photo enthusiasts and professional sports photographers.  It also saves time when transferring the data from the card to your PC.

The card is available in 32 GB and 64GB and will be available from selected Sony authorised dealers from July 2012.  From August XQD S Series card owners can download a free new version of the File Rescue (Ver 3.2) software by Sony for recovery of accidentally-deleted photos and videos.  This utility supports the latest file formats of AVCHD, 3D as well as RAW and MOV files.
