28 December 2012, Singapore – Three star 14 storey Days Hotel Singapore at Zhongshan Park in Balestier Road, Singapore opens 31 December 2012 with opening rates from S$160++. This milestone marks Wyndham Hotel Group’s entry into Singapore, months ahead of the opening of its sister four star Ramada located in the next block. The two hotels join the Balestier stretch of other hotels in the area including Accor’s Ibis Singapore Novena and budget hotels Fragrance, Hotel 81, Value Hotel.
Located in the cultural enclave of Balestier Road, there are historical sites for visitors. Just next to Zhongshan Park are two sites that you can visit. The Sasanaramsi Burmese Buddhist Temple was completed in 1990 and is the only Buddhist temple outside Myanmar to be built in the traditional Burmese architectural style. The Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall was built in the late 1800s as Wan Qing Yuan villa. In 1906 Sun Yat Sen stayed in the villa while in exile. Reopened to the public in 2011, the memorial hall is a museum. The heritage trail of Balestier offers sights of temples, art deco shophouses, pre-war terrace houses and more.
Days Hotel Singapore offers 405 contemporary avant-garde guest rooms with free hi-speed WIFI, 24-hour gym and a hearty breakfast when you wake up. Besides the rows of shop houses in the neighbourhood where you can enjoy local delicacies, Days Hotel has an all-day dining restaurant 21 on Rajah serving Mediterranean, local and South East Asian fare.
Check out the very Singaporean dish Chicken Rice at Boon Tong Kee or the hawker fare at Whampoa Food Centre which are within walking distance from Zhongshan Park. Do not miss out on the traditional bakeries which offer the simple pleasures of sliced toast with butter or kaya spread (a local coconut and egg jam) and freshly brewed coffee. The runny soft-boiled eggs with white pepper and light soy sauce has always been my childhood favourite. Sweetlands Confectionery, which is located at 10/12 Kim Meat Lane, produces bread round the clock for delivery to coffee shops and provision shops across Singapore. Sin Hon Loong Bakery (or Ghee Leong) is located at 4 Whampoa Drive and offers bread, baguettes and buns.
Days Hotel is five minutes from Novena MRT by car. The nearest malls include Velocity and United Square while the Novena Medical Hub and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital are also a short drive away. Complimentary shuttle services between Zhongshan Park and Novena MRT are available to guests.
The Ramada is scheduled to open March 2013 offering another 384 contemporary rooms catering to both business and leisure travellers. It will offer all day Straits Chinese and Western dining at Flavours at Zhongshan Park and The Heritage Lounge Lobby Bar. Other amenities include 24 hour room service, business centre, gym, pool, 540 square metres meeting and banquet space.
Zhongshan Park hotel development project is the first for HH Properties Pte Ltd, a joint venture between property developer Hiap Hoe Limited and leisure and commercial property owner and manager SuperBowl Holdings Limited
