April 2011, Singapore – The legendary Cortez from the 1972s by Nike resurfaces to provide greater comfort such as a wider outsole and additional padding. As the first athelete-centric running shoe developed by Nike, the Cortez is made as an athelete’s form of expression of passion for his or her sport. Using the vintage Classic Cortez Nylon colour blockings , each Cortez sneaker features three striking colours giving it a vibrant and youthful appeal.
The Classic Cortez Nylon is lightweight and breathable to improve a runner’s performance and comfort. At the same time, it is stylish and funky enough for an athelete to segue from running tracks to the streets.
The Cortez shoe was named most popular training shoe of 1971 by Runner’s World magazine. It even made an appearance in “Forrest Gump” where Tom Hanks, who played the titular character, wore a pair of Nike Cortez in one memorable scene when he ran coast to coast for three and a half years.
These sneakers are available at S$79 from the Nike Singapore Wisma Atria and selected Nike stores.
