18 June 2012, Singapore –  If you enjoy Japanese curry, try out Singapore’s latest curry rice maker Monster Curry.  With three outlets at Parco Marina Bay (Millenia Walk), 313@somerset and ION Orchard, Monster Curry is part of the En Group which also operates En Japanese Dining Bar, En Grill & Bar, Z’en Japanese Cuisine, huhu udon, Tokyo Pasta Mario,  Go Go Curry Singapore in Singapore as well as other Japanese outlets in Asia.    As a market leader in Japanese dining, En Group continues to set new trends for diners in Singapore.
Three reasons why you should try Monster Curry:
1. The curry contains 14 different spices and vegetables
2. The curry is cooked for 2 days before it is ready to be served. This is to bring out its savoury taste to the fullest
3. The portions are huge, and it is served on a big 41cm diameter plate
4. It has a unique sweet and savoury flavour and allows you to choose your level of spiciness – from 1 to 5 “Flames” (Normal Hot to Monster Hot).
Monster Curry’s rich, deep and dark brown colour comes from roasted caramel cooked for up to 5 hours. It gives the curry that sweet taste to balance the spiciness. This gourmet curry sauce is cooked for 2 days before it is allowed to cool down for another full day, so that the acidity of the sauce will evaporate resulting in a smooth, balanced and full-bodied curry.
The hot sauce that is added into the curry for it spiciness, is made from chilli padi, garlic, ginger and celery. When the curry is served, the hot sauce appears as red heart-shaped droplets in the brown curry and you stir to mix the hot sauce with the curry. The good thing about this serving method is that you can adjust the level of spiciness by controlling how much of the hot sauce you mix into the curry. This is important when you are sharing the dish with someone who happens to like it milder.
Their signature dish would be the Monster Combo Curry (S$21) meant to be shared by 2 persons with huge appetites. It contains pork katsu, fried fish, shabu-shabu beef, tempura prawn and cheese. Be warned that this combo is huge so make sure you come with a very empty stomach. If not, go for the individual portions, and be spoilt for choice from 3 categories – Original, Seafood and Meat. Some notable dishes are the Beef Shabu-Shabu Omelette Curry (S$13), Shrimp Tempura Curry (S$12) and the Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry (S$13). They also serve the traditional Japanese fermented soybeans called Natto. It comes with an Onsen egg and curry (S$12). You either love or hate the taste of Natto, so tread with caution.
