Review: The Westin Kuala Lumpur

The rooms at The Westin Kuala Lumpur are spacious and comfortable. If you are a Starwood Preferred Guest member, you enjoy more bottles of mineral water than non SPG member guests and also get to stay on the SPG member floor of any of Starwood’s properties globally, when available.

Conveniently located right smack in town, the 5-star hotel Westin Kuala Lumpur is located at Jalan Bukit Bintang, just opposite the Pavillion and Starhill Gallery and close to other attractions including the KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers. It is 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and one hour away from the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) which services mainly AirAsia and TigerAir. Other hotels near The Westin Kuala Lumpur include the JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur and The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur.

I put up in a Deluxe City Room for a night and enjoyed the signature Heavenly bed as always while I was in Kuala Lumpur for the Macallan’s Elliot Erwitt Collaboration event.

All the rooms except suites in Westin Kuala Lumpur are 42sqm.  There are four room types including Deluxe City View, Premium City View, Premium Twin Tower and the Westin Executive Club Room. The Westin Suite is 75sqm big, while the Presidential Suite is a 114sqm luxury suite on the highest floor. The Chairman Suite is a 300sqm bi-level penthouse suite on the 34th and 35th floor of the hotel. There is also a 80sqm Executive One Bedroom residence.

The view was not as scenic as it would have been from the Premium City View rooms where you may get to see the Kuala Lumpur Tower or the Petronas Twin Towers from the Executive Club rooms. From my room, I overlooked another hotel and not to far away the Parkroyal Hotel at Jalan Sultan Ismail.

oh my. the delicious complimentary Jing teas that often keep me accompany through the night before I head to bed.

On arrival I tried out the local delights for lunch at The Living Room l and was not too thrilled with the food or slow service. I would highly recommend you to try the food near the hotel such as some of the F&B outlets at Pavillion or if you are adventurous enough, there are some great hawker fare nearby.
