Vietjet will introduce daily flights between Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City from 9 December 2016. This new route is its first frequent service to Hong Kong, increasing the low cost carrier’s total frequent routes between Vietnam and China to nine. It currently serves 53 routes of which 18 are international.
The announcement was made at a ceremony at the Island Shangri-La Ballroom in Hong Kong this morning coinciding with Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnam Prime Minister’s visit to Hong Kong SAR. The event was attended by Mdm Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet’s President and CEO, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Vietnam Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong SAR and other high-ranking dignitaries.
VJ877 will depart Hong Kong at 7.20pm and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 9.00pm. VJ876, the return flight departs Ho Chi Minh City at 2.40 pm and arrives in Hong Kong at 6.20pm. Sales of flight tickets for the route is already available from vietjetair.com. The flight between the two cities are less than 3 hours.
Currently the two cities are served directly by Vietnam Airlines, Cathay Pacific and United Airlines.
