It is not often you get the chance to photograph a theme park without the crowds and long queues of people waiting to try the rides.
Last Friday was an extremely hot day, and for the first time I was armed with my Canon 500D DSLR camera. I was given a brief tour of the newly opened theme park, ready to compare it to the Universal Studios Hollywood which I first visited in 1995. The first thing that came to mind was Universal Studios Singapore is much smaller than the Hollywood theme park! Resorts World has yet to officially announce when the park will be officially opened to the public. Universal Studio was open to the public from 14 to 21 February. Tickets were sold at $10 which allows the public to view the premises and watch some of the street acts from 5 to 9pm. The rides were not ready yet.
One word of advice would be to dress very comfortably! I was perspiring heaps in my Jeans and short-sleeved shirt and complaining about the weather throughout my recce.
The Entrance and Hollywood Street
After walking through the ticketing area, you enter into the theme park and will immediately walk through Hollywood Street.
New York Street Check out the back drop of City Hall and the Yellow Cab at the end of New York Street.
Madagascar Get a snap shot with Madagascar’s freaks from New York: Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe with a huge ship in the back ground! Cute!!!! You can also get a spin and King Julien’s Beach Party Go Round carousel.
King Julien, the self-appointed king of the lemurs, knows how to move it, move it, and now he spins guests round and round to the beat of high-energy dance music in this crazy carousel, sure to be a family favorite. At this festive beach scene, King Julien and the Lemurs are throwing a party for their favorite friends.
Shrek’s Far Far Away Castle I went beserk when I saw the Far Far Away castle. You can almost imagine the number of photos I took here! Inside the castle is a theater where you can catch Shrek 4-D Adventure™
Help save Princess Fiona in a totally in-your-face fairy tale adventure. Through the miracle of OgreVision you’ll see, hear, and actually FEEL the action right from your seat!
Join Princess Fiona, Shrek and Donkey on a honeymoon adventure that picks up where the Oscar-winning movie “Shrek” left off, through an original 3-D film, complete with jumps, bumps, bounces, air blasts and water spray that bring the action to life for each guest- with an extra dimension of special effects through the miracle of OgreVision glasses. When the park is fully operational, you have to visit Universal Studios Singapore!!
