As the North American launch customer, United Airlines rolls out its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner out of the assembly line at Boeing’s Everett, Washington facility on the evening of 8 April.
This aircraft is the second and newest of the 787 family. It is 20 feet longer than its predecessor the 787-8 and will fly 30 additional passengers and up to 300 nautical miles further with the same environmental performance and 20% less fuel burn per seat and up to 20% fewer emissions than similar sized aircraft.
The aircraft will in the next several months be configured with the cabin fittings as well as painted. It will be configured with a total of 252 seats including 48 in United BusinessFirst and 204 in Economy and 88 in Economy Plus.
The American airline’s first Boeing 787-9 will be one of five used by Boeing in a flight test programme to certify the aircraft.
