Myanmar ATMs Now Accept Visa Cards

Travel - Myanmar

3 January 2013, Yangon, Myanmar – For the first time, 90 Co-operative Bank and Kanbawza Bank across Myanmar ATMs have started accepting Visa cards since 26 December 2012.  You would be able to withdraw cash across major tourist regions of the country including Mandalay, Bago and Taunggyi.

Within Yangon, Visa cards are accepted at ATMs in Yangon International Airport, Bogyoke Market, Inle Lake Hotel, City Mart Marketplace, Junction Square, Trade’s Hoteel and Park Royal Hotel.

This new service is made possible with the partnership of Planet Payment and Visa to connect Myanmar bank’s ATMs to VisaNet.  This introduction comes just in time as Myanmar hosts two major international events this year – The World Economic Forum on East Asia and the Southeast Asia Games.
