30 January 2013, Singapore – Low cost carrier Scoot will be the first in Asia to stream inflight entertainment wirelessly to its passengers’ own WiFi enabled laptop or tablet at their own convenience during the flight. Smartphones are currently not supported.
Powered by Gogo, a provider in inflight digital entertainment solutions, ScooTV will feature a selection of Hollywood blockbuster movies and popular TV shows. Refreshed every second month, ScooTV currently feature blockbusters such as Black Swan, Shinjuku Incident and a range of TV favourites like New Girl and Chuck. Passengers using an Apple iPad will have to download the Gogo Video Plugin prior to the flight, while Android and Laptop users can download the plugin via the flight’s WiFi network.
Passengers in the Economy cabin will be able to use the ScooTV for just S$15 (pre-purchase) or S$16 (onboard purchase) per flight, while ScootBiz passengers will enjoy this service for free. For those without their own device, Scoot’s Rent-a-Tablet service will still be available at S$20 (pre-purchase) or S$22 (onboard purchase).
