3 September 2012, Taiwan – Taiwan’s TransAsia Airways’ kicks start its expansion plans with the scheduled delivery of its first A330-300 fitted with Rolls-Royce’s Trent 700 engines in November. Subsequent scheduled delivery of its second A330-300 will be in January 2013. Delivery of all orders will be completed by 2022.
The Airline currently operates a fleet of 18 aircraft to 46 destinations within Asia. The A330-300’s delivery is the first of 29 new aircraft on order, which includes two Airbus A330-300, six Airbus A321-200 and six Airbus A321Neo with an option on six more, and eight ATR 72-600s with one additional option.
The expanded fleet will allow TransAsia Airways to roll out routes to many major Asian cities and beyond – within nine hours’ flight time of Taiwan over the next five years. It is currently considering Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
