Facebook has released its list of Top 10 places around the world that has the most mentions and what surprised us was Siam Paragon made it to the list made up of mostly national landmarks.
The shopping complex in Bangkok is ranked sixth most talk about place among people around the world this year. It is also the only Asian place to make it to the top 10 Facebook list.
Siam Paragon was opened in 2005. The 15-billion Baht development has an area of over 500,000 square metres and over 250 stores of local and international brands. Tenants also include Paragon Department Store, Gourmet Market, Royal Paragon Hall, Paragon Cinema-plex and SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World Aquarium.
Siam Paragon has been ranked sixth after Disney properties, Universal Studios Properties, Times Square in New York City, Eiffel Tower and Niagara Falls. Grand Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, The Louvre and Central Park follows after Siam Paragon.

LAND OF SMILES
Another survey by UK researchers who conducted a mood analysis survey from more than 150,000 selfie pictures from the top five popular Instagram cities has also revealed that Thailand has the most smiling selfie pictures on Instagram. The five cities include Bangkok, Berlin, Moscow, New York and Sao Paulo.
Based on 640 photos from 150,000 selfies on Instagram selected for an exhibition, it found out that selfie photos of people in Bangkok topped the rank with 0.68 average smile scores followed by people of Sao Paolo in Brazil which has an average smile score of 0.64.
Bangkok was also revealed as the youngest selfie city with an average age of 21 years.
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, “This survey confirms to the world that Thailand is a country of happy people, and why Thailand is called the Land of Smiles. Our happiness comes from within and we want to share it to the world. And in this era, Instagram is one of the best social media channels to show our happiness to our friends and people from around the world.”
