September 2012, Singapore – Tiger Airways is adding two new destinations its portfolio including Hyderabad in India as well as Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Tiger Airways currently flies to over 35 cities in the region. Earlier this year, the airline launched flights to Dhaka, Kochi and Colombo.
Singapore – Hyderabad, India Route
On 27 September 2012, Tiger Airways will launch a five times weekly service between Singapore and Hyderabad. Hyderabad is Tiger Airways’ sixth Indian destination including Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirappalli.
Hyderabad is the 400 year old capital of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India that is also known as City of Pearls, Briyani City and Cyberabad because of its reputation for being a technology capital.
Singapore – Phnom Penh, Cambodia Route
Tiger Airways will introduce flights to the Cambodian capital on 1 October 2012.
New Group Chief Executive Officer
A month ago on 10 August, 2012, Tiger Airways appointed Koay Peng Yen as the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who took over from Chin Yau Seng who has returned to Singapore Airlines. Mr. Koay was Executive Director of Pacific Carriers Limited and Pax Ocean Engineering Group which are under the Kuok Group companies. Prior to that he was the Group CEO of IMC Corp Limited and also spent 18 years with the NOL Group. Mr. Koay has a Master of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
