The Langham Hospitality Group‘s most recent addition to the Australian market, The Langham Gold Coast, exemplifies exceptional architecture and luxury for the discerning traveller and celebrates its first anniversary this month. This majestic property, the group’s third luxury hotel in Australia after Melbourne in 1992 and Sydney in 2014, opened its doors on 23 June 2023, featuring 169 elegantly appointed rooms and suites. Additionally, The Langham manages the spacious Jewel Residences by The Langham, consisting of 170 serviced apartments meticulously designed and constructed to meet the brand’s renowned standards.
Situated in the prime beachfront location of Surfers Paradise, this destination boasts three iconic towers. The Langham, Gold Coast occupies the third to 20th floors, while the Jewel Residences grace the 22nd to 49th floors, providing breathtaking city and ocean vistas.
During my recent visit to Gold Coast in April this year for ATE 2023, I stayed in one of the one bedroom apartments at The Jewel Residences. There are also two, three and four bedroom apartments for those travelling in bigger groups. My previous stay with Langham Hospitality Group was at The Langham Huntington Pasadena in Los Angeles in 2016 or the Cordis Hotel Hong Kong.
Experience the awe-inspiring panoramic views from the One bedroom Skyline Hinterland Residences, located on levels 36 to 44. These residences, ranging from 68 to 79 square metres, feature a mix of open, closed, and partially open balconies, providing various options to enjoy the surrounding scenery. Guests also have access to the Health Club.
During my stay in residence number 4102, I was captivated by the expansive vistas that left a lasting impression, particularly during the breathtaking sunsets. The small balcony at the end of the living room was a perfect spot to savour the fresh air and take in the magnificent view.
The full kitchen and laundry facilities within the residence prove to be highly practical when embarking on extended travels. The Langham Gold Coast’s considerate touch of providing individual packs of washing detergent for laundry is commendable. The kitchen area offers ample storage space behind the cupboard doors.
Having already spent five days in Canberra and sleeping with a Sun Bear before my four-day stay in Gold Coast, followed by a four-day trip to Outback Queensland, I greatly appreciated the easy and convenient access to laundry facilities, especially considering the limited 24kg domestic flight baggage allowance.
One of the appealing features of the residences is the abundance of natural light that fills the apartment, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The renowned US-based interior design firm, Oppenheim Architecture + Design, drew inspiration from the prime coastal location and the surrounding national parks and hinterland when designing the Jewel Residences. I particularly enjoyed the apartment’s calming white walls, soothing pastel tones, and predominantly uncarpeted flooring.
In terms of housekeeping, while hotel rooms are cleaned on a daily basis, the residences undergo cleaning every two days.
The bedroom, although cosy, is comfortable, despite having to share the space with the spacious walk-in wardrobe. With ample drawers, shelf space, and hangers, long-term guests could conveniently unpack their belongings and avoid reopening their luggage until check-out. A separate television in the bedroom allowed for independent viewing options while someone else enjoyed the living room television.
I enjoyed restful nights of sleep on the incredibly comfortable bed. Or it could have been the busy schedule I had that contributed to a deep and satisfying slumber.
Indulge in the luxurious Diptyque bath amenities and enjoy a relaxing hot shower.
I had a delightful lunch at the casual “grab & go” café called 26 & Sunny. I chose to sit outdoors, allowing me to enjoy my lunch and the refreshing sea breeze and bask in the warm sunshine. The dining options at The Langham Gold Coast are diverse, with Akoya offering a daily buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
T’ang Court in Gold Coast joins the Michelin-starred Cantonese Fine Dining restaurants at The Langham Hotels in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Having opened for under a year, T’ang Court has been awarded an Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat for 2023. To get a taste of what T’ang Court at The Langham Hong Kong has to offer, you can watch our 2017 Youtube video featuring some of our food finds in Hong Kong.
You can also indulge in the iconic Langham Afternoon Tea at Palm Court, or enjoy a selection of beverages and appetisers at the Lobby Bar, which operates from 11 am to 11 pm daily. Akoya offers a wide buffet spread for breakfast. Something I look forward to every morning.
The Conference Centre in the standalone building is great for events as I experienced the Australian Tourism Exchange 23 and International Media Marketplace media programme welcome drinks and a taste of T’ang Court during my first night in Gold Coast where The Langham Gold Coast’s mixologist made a delicious “Sunshine Sipper” cocktail with ingredients from Queensland including Ariane Vodka, Bundaberg Ginger Beer, Lime Juice and native Pink Finger Lime pearls and crystalised Buderim ginger. There are 11 function spaces, including the Diamond Ballroom which can accommodate up to 400 people.
