Long Yun Leisure Farm 龍雲農場, nestled in Taiwan’s Chiayi County within the Alishan National Scenic Area, offers visitors a serene escape into nature. Here, guests are encouraged to unwind and savour a leisurely vacation amidst stunning landscapes. The farm’s chalet-style accommodation, designed with eco-friendly architecture, embodies the essence of slow travel, providing a peaceful retreat from the fast pace of city life.
It takes about three and a half hours to drive from Taoyuan International Airport to Long Yun Leisure Farm, which is nestled midway up Alishan at an altitude of 1,500 meters, where a mysterious mist often lingers.
Wander through 400 hectares of woodland and breathe in the fresh air. Take your time to enjoy forest bathing. Each season brings its own unique charm: in spring, cherry blossoms paint the landscape like a picturesque postcard.
In summer, you can catch beetles or embark on a night expedition in search of the beautiful fireflies that light up the path. Autumn and winter invite you to hike the mountains and immerse yourself in the sea of clouds, a serene experience we like to call “cloud bathing.”
Mr. Deng, the owner, is eager to give us a tour. His passion, joy, and warm hospitality are truly evident. We also saw the family save an armadillo from being eaten and release it safely back into the wild.
The freshness of Taiwan’s produce is one of the main reasons we find ourselves returning time and again for our vacations. The Taiwanese take great pride in their agriculture, wholeheartedly embracing the farm-to-table philosophy with their livestock, fruits, tea and vegetables.
Taste freshly picked vegetables, bamboo shoots or seasonal dishes such as Ashitaba leaves with stewed chicken, Hericium Herbal Soup, Cichorium intybus salad and other delicacies here.
There is a dedicated kitchen and tableware exclusively for Muslim guests.
After dinner and the hike, guests will have the opportunity to learn how to make mochi and participate in this group activity, which features plenty of dancing, singing, and pounding.
This bed and breakfast offers a variety of accommodation options. We stayed in a Moon View Quadruple Room on the second floor of the Wangyue Building, with stunning views through double-sided floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The room features two king-size beds, comfortably accommodating up to four guests. The rate for a night’s stay, including breakfast and dinner, is NTD 7,200 on weekends and NTD 5,600 on weekdays. Due to the cool mountain climate, the rooms are not fitted with air-conditioning or refrigerators.
