Sofitel So Singapore is the latest of many hotel openings in Singapore this year. I was impressed when I had a preview of the So Lofty room on the week of the opening. After all, it was the hotel’s signature designer Karl Lagerfeld who added his chic touches to French interior designer, Isabelle Miaja’s interior design work. The hotel occupies what used to be a telecommunications building built in 1927 and preserved for its heritage and offers a marriage of 18th century French decadence with local touches.
This 134 guest room boutique hotel which includes nine suites is located in the heart of the business district and is conveniently located next to Lau Pa Sat hawker centre where you can get delicious satay and other local fare.
Each guest room is inspired by the Parisian apartments and come with three metre high ceilings giving a spacious roomy experience. When you lie on the Sofitel MyBed and look up to the ceiling, you can appreciate images of palatial glass domes from traditional architecture of Europe and modern constructions in Singapore. A contemporary interpretation of Singapore’s national flower, the Orchid is positioned on the head board of your bed
In the suites, expansive bathrooms offer lavish fittings and bespoke amenities. Sofitel So Singapore uses its own specially created signature blend of scent called Urban Forest. You have the option to soak in the bath or take a shower in a separate room. Women can make up at the dressing table which is separate from the wash basins. There is also a built in complimentary mini-bar in the suite where you can enjoy local goodies.
You can also enjoy the fresh air and view from your balcony.
Xperience Restaurant offers a gastro-bar dining concept where you can design your own customised menu based on different culinary experiences such as crunchy, juicy, smoky, creamy, silky, spicy and zesty. Dishes are served in three sizes with XS for tasting, XM for personal size and XL for sharing. An extensive cocktail list and a good selection of 35 wines by the glass are available to complement your meal. Music is provided by the hotel’s resident and guest DJs.
Hi-SO is the rooftop bar that offers unique designer cocktails and gourmet bites. Relaxing cabanas next to the golden-tiled swimming pool are available for guests.
Room rates at Sofitel So Singapore start from US$251 per night. The new hotel offers opening offers such as the Weekends@So package. For S$599++ for two people, Weekends@So package comes with champagne brunch on Saturday, one-night accommodation, and all-day breakfast on Sunday with two glasses of champagne. Another package offers you a complimentary S$100 food and beverage credit for a limited 100 day period.
Sofitel So Singapore is located at 35 Robinson Road.
