Singaporeans above 16 with a biometric passport will be able to use SmartGate self-processing facilities in Australia’s eight major airports as part of a trial. SmartGate travellers can self-process through passport control making it much quicker especially during busy period.

SmartGate is currently available to Australian, New Zealand and UK citizens on a permanent basis and to US and Swiss electronic passport holders under trial arrangements. Singapore is the first Asian country to be enlisted in this service. Additional nationalities will be added into the trial list over the next 12 months.
