Singapore and Japan will jointly promote air traffic management (ATM) transformation in Asia Pacific. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Civil Aviation Bureau of Japan will share information, knowledge and expertise and collaborate in ATM modernisation efforts and in research activities to develop ATM concepts, solutions and technologies for the next generation of air traffic management systems.
The two countries’ civil aviation authorities close partnership began through interactions at the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation events.
Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore is developing Singapore as the Centre of Excellence for Air Traffic Management comprising research institutes and think tanks, academia, industry players, international ATM entities and aviation stakeholders conducting a wide air traffic management research and development, testing and validation of concepts, technologies and solutions for Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. It has also established the ATM Research Institute with Nanyang Technological University and the MITRE Asia Pacific Singapore with the MITRE Corporation. There are other collaborative agreements with key ATM or research entities such as Airbus ProSky, SESAR Joint Undertaking, the United States Federal Aviation Administration and the Institute for Infocomm Research.
This joint partnership with Civil Aviation Bureau of Japan is is first memorandum of cooperation with an air navigation services provider from the Asia Pacific region.
