Singapore Airlines will launch direct flights between Singapore Changi Airport and San Francisco. This follows United Airlines‘, another Star Alliance member airline, launching non stop flights operated on the B787-9 Dreamliner since 1 June this year. United’s Dreamliner can carry 252 passengers with 48 in United BusinessFirst and 204 in United Economy and 88 in Economy Plus.
Singapore Airlines Flies Direct to San Francisco
Singapore Airlines will deploy its Airbus A350-900 aircraft on this route from 23 October this year. The journey of around 13,600km takes 14:35 hours and 17:45 hours depending on the direction and time of year.
The A350-900 can operate non-stop to San Francisco throughout the year. Headwinds may result in some payload restriction. Therefore, some seats will not be offered for sale.
The aircraft can seat 253 passengers in Business, Premium Economy and Economy. Flights to San Francisco will depart Singapore in the morning and arrive in San Francisco in the morning. This will be Singapore Airline’s longest flight in the network until 2018 when it introduces direct services on the Airbus A350-900ULR between Singapore and Los Angeles as well as Singapore and New York.
This direct flight replaces the Singapore – Seoul Incheon – San Francisco service.The return flight from San Francisco will depart in the morning and arrive in Singapore in the early evening.

Singapore Airlines Adds Flight to Los Angeles
Singapore Airlines will introduce another Singapore – Seoul – Los Angeles service in addition to the Singapore – Tokyo – Los Angeles service. Besides flying to US cities in San Francisco and Los Angeles, it also flies to Houston via Moscow and New York JFK via Frankfurt.
Singapore Airlines To Remove Sao Paulo from Network
The Singapore – Sao Paulo, Brazil route has not been performing well. Hence, it will suspend the thrice weekly services to Sao Paulo via Barcelona. As a result, the last flight will be operated on 20 October 2016. However, it will continue to operate the Singapore – Barcelona route.
