13 December 2011, Singapore – SilkAir will be introducing it’s first Australian destination since it began operations in 1984 when it was first known as Tradewinds. From 26 March 2012, SilkAir will be introducing direct flights between Singapore and Darwin, subject to regulatory approvals. With this new destination, SilkAir’s route network will increase to 39 in 12 countries.
There will be four flights on the Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft featuring Business and Economy Class cabins per week:
This new route will boost the airline’s presence in the Australian market, which is currently being served by its parent company Singapore Airlines, via Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
In Darwin, you can visit the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, Katherine Gorge located in the Nitmiluk National Park, Tiwi Islands and Lietchfield National Park’s amazing waterfalls, plunge pools, wildlife and birdlife. Darwin is also the northern gateway to the Australian Outback which includes attractions such as Alice Springs and Uluru, commonly known as Ayers Rock.
