Scoot Inaugural Flight Lands Safely In Sydney Despite A Late Start

5 June 2012, Singapore – Despite a delay of around two hours on its first ever inaugural flight out of Singapore, SCOOT flight TZ2 with an aircraft registration 9V-OTC landed at Sydney International Airport this morning. The flight was given a water cannon salute as the aircraft taxied to the gate.

On board the flight were over 400 passengers and CEO Campbell Wilson. Michelle Chong and Chua En Lai from the tv programme ‘The Noose’ as well as Glenn Ong and Vernetta Lopez from Class 95 were amongst the celebrities aboard the flight. Media from Singapore as well as bloggers Alvinology, Camemberu, Ladyironchef and Dawn Yang were on board the flight.

According to a report by Air Transport World (ATW), a pitot tube warning and a medical emergency of a passenger delayed the inaugural flight.  In the report, Scoot CEO Campbell Wilson was quoted “pitot tubes are particularly susceptible especially if the aircraft has not flown for a few days.”  Regarding the medical emergency, Wilson explained that one of the passengers was feeling unwell while the aircraft was at bay and requested to leave the aircraft.  Locating and retrieving her luggage also added some half an hour to the overall delay.  Read more about it here.

Scoot also announced today that it will be flying to Tokyo and Taipei in to Gold Coast, Bangkok and Tianjin.
