The cast and crew of Lucasfilm’s STAR WARS: The Force Awakens were shuttled in the R2-D2 ANA Boeing 787-9 jet plane from the World Premiere in Hollywood earlier this week to the London Premiere.
Film stars including Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega as well as the director of The Force Awakens J.J. Abrams and producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy flew on the chartered flight from Los Angeles to London. The chartered flight number for the trip was NH 1977 honouring the release of the first Star Wars film in 1977.
The R2-D2 ANA Jet made a stop in Singapore last month as part of an event held in conjunction with Changi Airport. You can read about that here.
This jet is the world’s first aircraft to feature a Star Wars character on its livery. The R2-D2 ANA Jet started its regular flight in October this year and flies to destinations in Europe, Asia, China and the US.
At the world premiere, a model of the BB-8 ANA JET was at the red carpet which was signed by the stars of the Star Wars film. The jet is a Boeing 777-300ER and is scheduled to begin service on international routes from March next year mainly between North America and Japan.
