Qatar Airways’ inaugural Airbus A380 service will take off 17 June from its new Doha hub at the new Hamad International Airport with six gates catered for this superjumbo to London Heathrow. Qatar Airways has 13 A380s on order and will be receiving three by this summer. QR003 and QR004 will service this route featuring First, Business and Economy Class, over two decks.
The new First Class A380 seat features a 90-inch seat pitch, transforming into a fully flat bed, together with an expansive choice of entertainment options displayed on individual 26-inch television screens. There will also be First and Business Class lounge on board as well as larger bathrooms.
The onboard lounge of Qatar Airways’ A380-800 offers passengers an ideal place to engage with a friend, sit and relax or just to move around. It is an escape from the typical airplane environment and has been developed to make passengers feel like they are in their own executive club.
The First Class bathrooms offers a spa-like warmth with contemporary clean lines and a finish that comes with luxurious amenities. Sensor operated taps and large square modern sinks so that you don’t splash and get wet when washing your face.
Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “It is a significant moment in our airline’s history to welcome these aircraft into our rapidly expanding fleet. Operating on the Doha to London Heathrow route, these aircraft, with their customised cabins, will set a new level of comfort for our passengers, who will also benefit from a smooth and pleasant passenger experience at the world’s newest airport, Hamad International Airport, the soon to be opened new home of Qatar Airways.”
“We are committed to offering our passengers the best possible experience when it comes to travelling with the airline, not only in terms of custom-built comfort features across all of our cabins, but with the continued expansion of our young and modern fleet.”
Qatar Airways is also set this year to welcome the first of 80 A350 aircraft, the world’s newest aircraft, as Airbus’ launch customer.
