What Is Organic Wine
Master of Wine Debra Meiburg is one of Cathay Pacific’s wine consultants. She participated in the airline’s organic wine tasting and shares the premise behind Organic Wine.
The grapes must be organically grown and the production of the wine itself must be organically manages. In an organic vineyard, grapes are grown without chemical fertilisers, weed killers, insecticides and orher synthetic chemicals. In the cellar, organic wines are produced from organic grapes and without synthetic additives or processing agents.
Organic wines come with less sulphur dioxide preservatives making it a healthier choice. This year over 40 wines from around the world have been served on board Cathay Pacific flights. Last year over 1.8 million bottles of wine were consumed.
