Who’s got “getting back in shape” on their new years resolution? Work could put a wet blanket on those workout plans, especially when you are based in one end of Singapore. The West Coast is where one would find our bustling science and technology hub and NUS, and, now, business travellers and their families’ answer to an all-rounded serviced residence for work-life balance, Oasia Residence.
Think Airbnb meets wellness retreat. Spacious rooms aside, there are pools, gyms, a tennis court and, even, spa facilities. There is always the option for a relaxing walk by the coast after a fulfilling home-cooked meal, or, emergency chicken nuggets for supper from the 24-hr MacDonald’s that is just a traffic light away (guilty as charged).
All in all, it is all centred around Oasia Residence’s mission to allow residences to refresh, recharge and refuel.
Refresh
A hard day’s work, or just simply fighting against the crazy weather of Singapore can get us down. That is where you put on your swim suit and hop into the Sea Mist Spa Pool, conveniently situated next to the Massage Pavilion. Or, go for a quick detox in the Steam Room, before heading back down to the first-floor lounge for a thirst-quenching gulp of complimentary pomegranate juice.
Going for a run can just be as beneficial. Known to give your brain power a quick boost (memory power and all), it does even better than a nap when you need a breather. Say, from a writer’s block. Let’s not forget the surge of the feel-good hormone, endorphins, too. And, this is all within your reach, with a quick lift ride to the gymnasium on Level 7 or the Outdoor Fitness Area on Level 1.
Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit, because, what better way to cool down after than jumping into the scenic pool before you?
Doing a little exploration can do wonders too. The West Coast is just a traffic light away, and West Coast Plaza is about 15 mins away (by walking). There is also a Handy phone in each room, equipped with data roaming and a plethora of places to check out within the area, and, the whole of Singapore. Those wanting to travel a little further out can make use of the shuttle buses to Clementi and Har Par Villa MRT.
Recharge
When that is all done and dusted, it’s time to take a nice, warm bath, catch up on the newest episode of Sherlock, or, finally, get the good night’s sleep we deserve.
The 140 rooms, available in Studios, one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments, are more than sufficient for a long-term stay. On top of the fully functioning kitchen, it comes with a living area with a 48″ LCD TV to chill with the family.
And, if you have a streaming service such as Netflix on your laptop and would like to enjoy the latest on the big screen, there is a HDMI cable just for that. Just call the reception, and they will send it up.
Refuel
Call me lazy, but trying to eat healthy just isn’t as easy as going for a takeaway pack of carrot cake from the coffee shop or the Big Breakfast set from McDonald’s. But, Oasia, makes it for you in a colourful spread every morning.
The complimentary Continental breakfast places your health as a priority and serves up tons of fruits, tiny sandwiches, cereal, cereal bars and so on. Available till 10:30 AM every day, it has everything you need to start the day off, or, refuel your body after a quick work-out at one of their facilities.
A minimum stay of 7 nights is required, at S$250++/night. Check out their booking website for the latest rates and promotions.
