The construction site at 8 Club Street is undergoing development and is slated to transform into the Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre upon its opening in the first quarter of 2024. This hotel will be Accor’s largest Mercure Hotel globally, featuring 989 rooms.
“We are thrilled to expand our working relationship with Accor, who are a strong partner for us. With Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre, we will continue to create exceptional guest experiences for the informed, cosmopolitan traveller.”
Carolyn Choo, CEO of Worldwide Hotels Group
Accor has entered into a landmark agreement with Worldwide Hotels Group, Singapore’s largest hotel group by room count and a longstanding partner of Accor. Both parties recently signed an agreement for Novotel Singapore on Kitchener. Worldwide Hotels Group manages V Hotel, Hotel Boss, Hotel Mi, Value Hotel, Venue Hotel and Hotel 81 with 41 properties in Singapore – that’s over 8,000 rooms. The group also owns 11 hotels in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia. They are run by external operators such as Accor, Oakwood, Holiday Inn, Swiss Garden and Travelodge.
The new-built hotel is positioned between the historic charm of Chinatown and the vibrant energy of the Central Business District. Guests will enjoy the buzzing gastronomic and entertainment scene with access to authentic local delights at nearby restaurants and hawker centres as well as Singapore’s vibrant cocktail bar scene. The hotel will also be within walking distance to Telok Ayer or Chinatown MRT Stations on the Downtown line or Maxwell Station on the Thomson East Coast Line.
The hotel is set to provide an array of exquisite dining choices, highlighted by an All-Day dining restaurant serving as a captivating social hub for guests to relax and savour an unforgettable dining experience.
Embodying a sophisticated lounge and bar concept, the space is meticulously designed to offer a seamless blend of meeting, relaxation, and revitalization, boasting lounge seating and tables equipped with power sockets for those in pursuit of productivity.
A thoughtfully landscaped pool deck and an indoor gym are intricately crafted to revitalize both body and mind. To further enhance the guest experience, the hotel will proudly feature EV charging facilities for environmentally conscious travellers.
“It’s an honour to continue our partnership with Worldwide Hotels Group with the signing of Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre. Mercure stand as gateways to exploration, igniting a sense of local discovery from the very moment guests step through the doors. Being locally inspired is at the heart of the Mercure experience, where each of our hotels boasts a charming character reflective of its neighbourhood. Located in one of the most happening neighbourhoods in Singapore, and with a wealth of world-class exceptional experiences, the hotel demonstrates our shared commitment to providing genuine hospitality experiences.”
