What used to be City Development Limited and IO Properties’ South Beach Hotel since 3 September 2015 has been changed to JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach. Singapore’s first JW Marriott property will open 15 December 2016. Guests can start staying at the hotel from 1 January 2017, while bookings can at marriott.com are already available.
This is JW Marriott’s 80th hotel in 27 countries with 45 more in the pipeline. Close to half of the JW Marriot hotels are in Asia Pacific region. The JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach joins other hotels from the Marriott group including Marriott, Westin, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis and W Hotel. Another brand from the Marriott International group, the Singapore EDITION featuring 190 rooms is expected to make its premiere in Singapore in the Orchard district in 2019.
There are some minor changes to the hotel with the rebranding. Originally with 654 Philippe Starck designed rooms, the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach now has 634 rooms including one Presidential Suite, one Chairman Suite, 21 Premier Suites, 24 Deluxe Suites, and 587 Deluxe, Premier, Club Deluxe and Club Premier Rooms.
Guest rooms are fitted with an Internet Protocol Television System, high speed fibre optic internet connection, up to seven USB power sockets, a mobile Wi-Fi phone. The ladies floor from South Beach Hotel is retained with amenities such as a boyfriend shirt, manicure and pedicure set, facial steamer and hair straightener.
The majority of the guest rooms and other facilities are located in the 45-storey tower of the South Beach integrated development, while the space within the low-rise, historical buildings will be converted to house the hotel’s additional restaurant and bar concepts.
Spa by JW will be opening in the second quarter of 2017. This is the second such spa in Asia Pacific. “MAX!”, an exclusive programme for kids age five to 12 years old features holistic activities that inspire and nurture. Kids staying at the hotel can participate in dance lessons cooking and pool activities.
The hotel will feature nine dining options of which five F&B concepts will open with the hotel on 15 December 2016. They include Akira Back by celebrity chef of the same name offering modern Japanese cuisine with Korean accents and culinary influences from all over, Beach Road Kitchen which offers more seating than ADHD previously featuring a buffet and live action stations with chefs on show, Court Martial Bar cocktail bar, Media Bar gastropub and Tonic gin specialty bar. The remaining four food and beverage outlets will be unveiled in 2017.
