Jetstar Asia celebrates 20 years of low fares

Jetstar Asia celebrates 20 years today since its first flight took off from Singapore.

Jetstar Asia’s first aircraft first took off on 13 December 2004. The low cost carrier has connected people and places across the region with affordable low fares.

“Jetstar has helped transform the way people travel with our low fares enabling our customers to jump on a plane to visit family, take that weekend away or that well-deserved holiday, when previously it might not have been an option. When we first took off in 2004, low-cost travel was a new concept in Singapore, and Jetstar Asia marked a new era of air travel out of Southeast Asia’s biggest hub.  Today is a celebration of the millions of passengers who have flown with us over the last 20 years and the incredible dedication.”

John Simeone, CEO of Jetstar Asia

Today, Jetstar Asia has flown over 50 million customers across its network to key metropolitan cities and unique leisure destinations. More than two-thirds of its fares sold for less than S$100 last year, as the low cost carrier commits to making air travel more affordable.

Jetstar Asia also recognised its most frequent flyer, Mr Ban Poon Huat (in the featured image above provided by Jetstar Asia), who has travelled with the airline more than 860 times over the past 20 years. Mr Ban was presented with a special Jetstar A320 aircraft model and a pair of return tickets to a destination of his choice as a token of appreciation.
