3 August 2012 , Singapore – Holiday Inn turns 60 this month with more than 100 million guest nights annually. With 3,375 hotels in 96 countries, the Holiday Inn family includes Holiday Inn Hotels, Holiday Inn Resorts, Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn Club Vacations.
Holiday Inn first began as a roadside inn. The first hotel was in Memphis Tenessee in the USA in 1952.

Holiday Inn in South East Asia has grown to 19 hotels with more than 6,500 rooms across Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Singapore has two Holiday Inns with the first opened in 1985 – the Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre.
Thailand is the biggest market for Holiday Inn with 8 hotels in Bangkok, Chiangmai, Pattaya, Phuket, Phi Phi and Hua Hin. The first Holiday Inn Resort to open in Asia was the Holiday Inn Phuket Patong Beach in 1987. Holiday In Express Bangkok Siam is the first Holiday Inn Express to open in South East Asia this June.
22 new hotels are expected to open in South East Asia in the next few years. This includes 12 Holiday Inn Express hotels across 4 countries in the next two years.
