Hilton Offers Shareable Digital Room Keys

Hilton group enhances the guest experience across its 18 hotel brands. With new innovations, Hilton continues to further the digital welcome experience for valued guests and Hilton Honors Members.

Shareable Digital Room Keys

The Digital Key Share now allows more than one guest to access the room’s Digital Key. This first-ever shareable digital room keys access is available on the free Hilton Honors app. And it is one that I truly appreciate without having to bring around the key card. Hilton launched the Digital Key in 2015 with 80% of its portfolio offering guests this convenience.

The primary guest can share their active Digital Key with up to four additional people or devices from the Hilton Honors app. The secondary guest will receive an invitation from the primary guest. Log into the Hilton Honors app and pass a security check that happens instantly in the background. Guests who accept a share will have access to the room throughout the duration of the stay. The secondary guest cannot share the Digital Key with anyone else, for security reasons.

Early Confirmation of Complimentary Room Upgrades

Another enhancement is providing eligible Gold and Diamond Hilton Honors members early confirmation of complimentary room upgrades. They will be informed 72 hours prior to arrival. Then that they can choose their upgraded room directly when they check-in via the Hilton Honors app.

All stays under seven nights are eligible for this confirmation. It will be available in the coming months at all Hilton brands globally where space-available upgrades are currently offered. This includes Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Curio Collection by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, Signia by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton.

Confirmed Connecting Rooms by Hilton

In June this year, Hilton introduced Confirmed Connecting Rooms by Hilton that allow guests to easily and instantly confirm at least two connecting rooms at the time of booking. Guests can check ‘connecting rooms’ when making their booking. This concept was originally engineered by Hilton’s new urban lifestyle hotel brand, Motto by Hilton.

For larger families, friend groups, wedding attendees and other travel parties, there have always been many benefits to staying in connecting guest rooms—but the booking process wasn’t always seamless. In the past, to stay in connecting rooms, guests would indicate their request when booking and then, many times, follow-up with both calls and emails, stressing the importance of this room experience for their stay. In most cases, connecting rooms, if available, were only confirmed when the guest arrived at the hotel, during check-in, sometimes leaving the guest frustrated before they even unpacked their bags.
