Garuda Indonesia shifts its service between Jakarta and London, originally planned for 2 November 2013 to May 2014 because of limited runway capacity at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The runways and apron at Soekarno-Hatta Airport do not meet the required level of strength for Garuda Indonesia’s new Boeing 777-300ER which has a capacity of up to 314 passengers with eight in First Class, 38 in Business and 268 in Economy as well as 30 tonnes of cargo.
In May next year, the airline will initially fly non-stop between Jakarta and London at 12.55 am (London time) arriving in London (Gatwick) at 8.30am. The flight departs London at 10am arriving in Jakarta at 6.15am the next day.
Garuda Indonesia received its second Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on Thursday which will operate on the Jakarta-Jeddah route. The first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft has been serving the Jakarta-Jeddah route 13 times a week. The airline expects to receive two more of such aircraft end this year, six in 2014 and final three in 2015.
