Free Singapore Tours for Transit and Transfer Passengers at Changi Airport Are Back

The Free Singapore Tour at Changi Airport makes a return on 3 April 2023. Transfer and Transit passengers account for about 30% of the passenger traffic at Changi Airport pre-pandemic, the tour was first introduced in 1987 to enhance the airport’s attractiveness as a transfer hub. In 2019, over 80,000 passengers went on the Free Singapore Tour.

Changi Airport Group, Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board have re-launched the Free Singapore Tour after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19. Three existing tours from pre-Covid-19 have been refreshed to include new points of interest. The three tours include the City Sights Tour, Heritage Tour and Jewel Tour. These tours will be run by Monster Day Tours.

The Jewel Tour brings participants to Jewel Changi Airport. Visit popular attractions such as the Shiseido Forest Valley and the HSBC Rain Vortex. Discover Singapore’s food heritage at Bee Cheng Hiang and Tong Garden while sampling local snacks. Go on a free guided walkthrough of a digital attraction – Changi Experience Studio to experience some of its airport-themed games and interactive exhibits.

The City Sights Tour will include the Civic District. Get an introduction to the city-state’s urban development through visits to various national monuments including the National Gallery Singapore, Anderson Bridge, and The Padang. The bus will drive through the new Marina Bay Financial district en route to Gardens by the Bay.

The Heritage Tour will be available from June 2023 and features the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown, Arab Street, and Haji Lane.

A brand new Changi Precinct Tour will showcase interesting sights and sounds of the eastern region surrounding the airport. Participants will visit local community spaces such as the Tampines heartland, Changi Village and Changi Beach. The tour offers a glimpse of how local residents live, and tells the tale of Singapore’s history on this part of the island, away from the city centre.

Each tour lasts 2.5 hours and will be available daily, with plans to progressively increase to nine tours daily. Book your tours in advance on Changi Airport’s website. Transit and transfer passengers need a layover period of at least 5.5 hours but less than 24 hours to participate. They will need a valid entry visa for Singapore to take part in the tours.
