Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta is the newest Starwood Hotels & Resorts Inc property to open in the popular tourist destination of Kuta in Bali, Indonesia in September 2015.
Located in the neighbourhood of Legian – Kuta at Jalan Benesari Banjar Pengabetan, Kuta Bali 80361, this resort-style hotel offers 185 guest rooms which overlook the central Lagoon Pool or Junior Pool. It is also the first Four Points branded hotel in Indonesia.
The Four Points brand crossed the 200th hotel milestone globally in September with plans to open 12 more around the world by the end of the world.
Besides the Four Points Sheraton Bali Kuta, Four Points recently opened in Istanbul Dudullu, Namasan Seoul, Moncton Canada. Four Points expect to expand its portfolio of rooms by nearly 60% in the next five years. Today there are 119 hotels in North America, 44 in Asia Pacific, 21 throughout Europe, Africa and Middle East and 19 in Latin America.
The Four Points brand offers consistent, authentic experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests enjoy fast and free WiFi throughout the hotel.
Let’s take a look at what Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta has to offer.
Wine and Dine
There are four eateries here to wine and dine. The Eatery is an all-day-dining restaurant located on the same level as the lagoon pool. Here you can enjoy buffet breakfast as well as a la carte meals.
Wrapped is the Deli located on the same level as the hotel lobby. Enjoy desserts including gelato, chocolate crackles and toffee apples as well as snacks as meals such as salads, burgers and sandwiches or pizzas.
Gourmet coffees, espressos, teas, smoothies and other Indonesian beverages are served here.
Enjoy beers and other alcoholic beverages at Best Brews together with bar food including wood-fried pizzas, kebabs, ribs, barbecue items and other grab-and-go options. It is located at the entrance of the hotel and operates from 12pm to 12 midnight daily. The life band that performs here at night is fabulous and they take requests as well.
Vertigo’s alfresco dining is located at the roof top offering new and old world cuisines with a tapas-influenced menu as well as exotic drink concoctions.
The Facilities
There is the main lagoon, a pool at the family wing and a rooftop pool which comes with a bar. Sun deck chairs are available for you to just relax and enjoy the sun. Help yourselves to the towels which are within reach when you are at the pools. At the lagoon pool, there is also an outdoor jacuzzi.
The rooftop pool is inviting especially during the evenings. The sunset is spectacular on a clear day.
There is also a 24 hour access fitness centre.
The kids are not left out here. There is a Kids Club that offers hands-on, play-focused activities for the younger kids and a separate area of technology-focused games and entertainment system for the older children.
The Rooms
I stayed in Room #156 (a 28 sqm room) on the ground floor with direct access into the lagoon pool. The Deluxe Lagoon Access Room start from US$105 per night. These are very sought-after rooms because of the pool access. Imagine the convenience of opening your room sliding door and jumping into the pool.
The rooms feature the brand’s signature Comfort Bed, a 40-inch flat screen LCD TV, free WiFi throughout the hotel.
There are electrical points around the room, including the round pin as well as international sockets so you can leave your adaptors at home. USB ports are also available for you to charge your smartphones or tablet.
The bathrooms are basic featuring a shower room with toiletries found in Four Points hotels around the world. Do not fret if you forget to bring your body moisturiser or tooth brush as these are also provided. This is after all Bali, so bring your own sun block and mosquito repellent if you are a mosquito magnet.
The rooms here span from 28sqm to 55sqm. Deluxe Rooms come with pool or lagoon view as well as pool access or lagoon access. The suites are between 45sqm for the comfort suite and 55sqm for the family suites.
Verdict
Overall, the stay at Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta is a comfortable one. The hotel is clean and staff are friendly and accommodating.
What I enjoyed most about the hotel is how accessible it is to local food fare, mini marts, and other shops and bars just outside the hotel. The road leading to the hotel may be a narrow two-way, one lane road, but it adds to the whole rustic experience of Bali.
This hotel is great for friends, couples and families. But I’ll recommend the Deluxe Lagoon Access Room even though it may get noisy at times.
