#EtihadSuggests is Etihad Airways’ latest social media initiative that offers personalised travel tips on Facebook and Twitter. You can ask holiday-related questions with the #EtihadSuggersts hashtag and you would get a response from Etihad Airways’ online community team within 10 minutes 24/7. Get helpful tips, insider information on places you must visit as well as best hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions suggestions. Response will be available in English and Arabic. Etihad Airways will tap into the wealth of information from Etihad Holidays in this social media project.

Etihad Airways also recently announced strong first quarter with positive growth over previous year. Total revenues went up 27% to a record US$1.4 billion during the first quarter of this year. Passenger numbers grow to 3.2 million and available seat kilometres grew to 19.2 billion in the same travel period. 3.2 million passengers have travelled with the airline during this period which is a 14% increase over the same period last year. The airline has 1,516 employees from UAE, an 18% increase from the same period last year. In the first quarter, it has also won four awards including the Airline Market Leadership Award at Air Transport World Magazine’s 40th Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards.

Earlier this month, the airline also picked up two Travelplus Awards for its “Inspired by Sougha” amenity kits which were recently launched in February this year and its new all-natural First Class COCO-MAT bedding –  ‘Ethically Sustainable Amenity Kit’ and “in-Flight Amenity Gift” from the Airline Amenity Bag Awards 2013. Etihad Airways picked from more than 120 submissions and entries in 20 categories. Etihad Airways launched Athens-based COCO-MAT on its long-haul flights in First Class after working with a panel of sleep experts from the American Centre for Psychiatry and Neurology in Abu Dhabi to research ways to enhance sleep in-flight. COCO-MAT is the manufacturer of sustainable sourced sleep products and has designed an exclusive multi-layered sleep system mattress for Etihad Airways’ Diamond First Class suites. The mattress is made from extracts of the Hevea tree, a healthier alternative to standard petroleum-based foams.

Etihad Guest

Etihad Guest, the loyalty programme of Etihad Airways has become a separate legal entity, Etihad Guest LLC to support its growth as a leading customer loyalty and marketing services organisation. The entity will focus and invest into developing specialty services and capabilities to improve membership engagement and returns for programme partners. Etihad Guest was launched in 2006 and has more than 2.3 million members around the world. Members can earn on more than 3,000 flights on Eithad Airways and its global airline partners as well as more than 150 non-airline global partners.

Etihad Airways has also become the official airline partner of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. It is the airline’s first multi-year sports sponsorship in US. Both Etihad Airways and MLS will work together on a number of activations and initiatives such as community programmes, hosting competitions and promoting flights and holidays with MLS fans. Etihad Airways logo and messages will be beamed across LED pitch-side advertising during nationally televised MLS matches as well as across national broadcast partners and MLS Digital Properties. Etihad Airways operates daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. It will launch daily flights to Los Angeles in June 2014 and December it will start a three-flights a week service to Dallas-Fort Worth.
