Guests in First Class will now receive a personalised welcome letter from the Cabin Service Manager on an elegant silver-tray with a welcome drink, fragrant hot towel and traditional Arabic dates. This is inspired by the similar experience offered by five-star hotels.

Food will be served on new chinaware by Japan’s famed fine bone china Nikko. Royal Oak cutlery by quintessentially British brand Studio William and stemmed crystal glasses created for the airline by Lucaris will be introduced.

Dining in First Class features an enhanced selection of canapés, a pre-dessert coursed served by the Chef and a ‘Café Gourmand’ coffee and tea course accompanied by mini cookies, cakes and pastries.

The cabin has also been refreshed. The throw and cushion will reflect the colour palette of the new interiors being introduced by the airline beginning with the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Turn down in First Class comes with an all-natural bed linen, pillow mist and pulse point oil with the addition of a ‘Sweet Dreams’ card.

Business Class

A new range of signature pieces of dining ware will be introduced. A stylised steel bread basket, salt and pepper shakers and a hammered metal side dish which are inspired by the airline’s Facets of Abu Dhabi corporate branding will be used onboard. New trays, chinaware, cutlery and tall, stemmed glasses will also be introduced.

A new turndown service is offered on ultra-longhaul flights, featuring a mattress, cotton loungewear and slippers which accompanies a plush comforter and full size pillow.

Economy Class

In Economy Class, the cabin interiors have been refreshed with new colourful headrest colours, pillow cases and fleece blankets. Menu cards, tableware and meal trays have also been reworked to match Etihad Airways’ focus on contemporary design and functionality.

You would receive a revolutionary new pillow which is unique to Etihad Airways on long haul night flights and all ultra-longhaul flights. The pillow converts from a standard pillow to a neck pillow.

A cotton drawstring amenity kit is also provided. Contents include a reversible eye mask which reflects “Do Not Disturb” on one side and “Wake Me Up” on the other. A blanket bag doubles up as a ‘cabin tidy bag’ which will be placed at each seat to reduce clutter. It can be used as a shoe bag or to store your personal effects.

Editor’s Note: Looking at all these new enhancements, I am really looking forward to flying with this airline once again and be wowed by the excellent service and experience.
