Etihad Airways flies its Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 – 9 Dreamliner from Abu Dhabi to Australia. The Airbus A380 and the Dreamliner received a water cannon salute in Sydney and Brisbane respectively.
Etihad Airways A380 Lands In Sydney
Etihad Airways’ A380 arrived in Sydney on 1 June 2015 offering more seats between Sydney-Abu Dhabi and Sydney-London routes.
EY454, the inaugural Abu Dhabi – Sydney flight operating on the A380 departed Abu Dhabi International Airport at 10pm Saturday night and arrived in Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at around 5.55pm last night. The return flight, EY455 departed Sydney at 9.25pm last night.
Etihad Airways flies two daily service between Sydney and Abu Dhabi of which one is operated on the A380. The airline’s additional four weekly Airbus A340-600 flights will be upgraded to Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The new daily A380 service and B777-300ER upgrade will increase the total number of two-way seats on the route by 30% to 9,568 seats weekly.
Etihad Airways’ A380 carries The Residence by Etihad, the world’s only private three-room cabin on a commercial aircraft which features a living room, ensuite shower room and a double bedroom. Located on the forward upper deck, The Residence by Etihad measures 125 square feet and is attended to by a dedicated Savoy-trained Butler.

New Dreamliner Brisbane-Abu Dhabi Direct Flights
Etihad Airways also launched daily non stop Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flights between Brisbane and Abu Dhabi. Flight EY484 departed Abu Dhabi at 10pm Saturday and arrived in Brisbane at 5.50pm last night. EY485 departed Brisbane for Abu Dhabi last night at 8.35pm and arrived in Abu Dhabi at 6am.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner features the airline’s new First Suite, Business Studio and Economy Smart Seat. This is the first time Etihad Airways is offering first class on the Brisbane – Abu Dhabi which will also fly direct instead of via Singapore on the previous Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
