Flower Home (花露休閒農場) Leisure Farm in Miaoli County, Taiwan is a flower wonderland founded over 30 years ago by Chen Ji-neng, who has been passionate about flowers and plants since he was a kid. Chen studied Chinese medicine and medicinal herbs. The farm is rich in herbs and flowers, especially when Hydrangeas are in season, and they have been grown using natural farming methods without chemical fertilisers and pesticides protecting the environment.
Just a two-hour drive from Taoyuan Airport, Flower Home Leisure Farm offers a captivating experience immersed in the beauty of flowers and herbs. This charming Bed and Breakfast is perfect for families, couples, and nature enthusiasts seeking a tranquil escape. Whether you’re spending the day or staying overnight in one of the 18 cosy rooms, you’ll have ample opportunity to explore the serene grounds and embrace the peaceful atmosphere of this idyllic retreat.
Just as the weather changes with the seasons, so too does the flora and fauna that thrive throughout the year. This allows this bed and breakfast to offer unique attractions each time you visit, no matter when you return.
There is a NTD200 admission fee for day visits. Guests can also take part in engaging activities ranging from flower arrangement workshops, DIY perfume making using natural floral extracts, tea tasting, relaxing foot soaks, and workshops to sample a variety of floral teas and picking seasonal flowers to take home.
For just NTD50, you can enjoy a brief train ride in a private carriage adorned with blooming flowerpots.
Keep an eye out for the adorable figurines during your visit. The men’s restroom at Rainforest Café is also a must-see for the guys!
Rose Bar and Dining at Flower Home
Make sure to visit Roses Bar and indulge in their unique Hydrangea-shaped ice cream cones. These delightful treats come in flavors as vibrant as the flowers themselves: rose (pink), yogurt (blue), and chocolate (brown). Each is priced at NTD200. The garden outside Roses Bar is beautifully decorated, providing a picturesque setting perfect for relaxing and snapping plenty of photos.
We visited in July, a day before Typhoon Gaemi hit Taiwan, when the air was thick with humidity and the heat was intense. These refreshing ice cream cones were a lifesaver, offering a cool escape from the sweltering weather. Whether you’re here for the tasty treats or the charming atmosphere, Roses Bar is a must-visit spot that captures the essence of summer.
We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe, which features both a covered, non-air-conditioned dining area and an air-conditioned section with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, allowing you to take in the vibrant surroundings.
The mian xian we enjoyed for breakfast might seem like a simple dish, but it packs all the comforting flavours into a single bowl. That was accompanied by an egg sandwich, and salad.
Herbs and the Flower Home’s Bestseller Rosemary Shampoo
Besides being engulfed in a universe of beautiful flora and luscious fauna, the herbs space at Flower Home Leisure Farm is perfect for learning about the efficacy of herbs for the body. A guide can bring you around to explain what these herbs are and how they can be used in food or even skin care products.
It brought back memories of our visit to the Jurlique farm in South Australia earlier this year, where the staff gave us a tour of the fields and explained how the flowers and plants grown there are used as ingredients in their skincare products. We also got to sample those products during that tour.
After exploring the herb garden with a guided tour, head into the Aroma Boutique, a refreshing, air-conditioned space filled with an extensive selection of merchandise. Among the top sellers is the Rosemary Shampoo, praised by many guests for promoting hair growth. This shampoo is made with all-natural essential oils, including Rosemary, Lemon-scented Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, and Mint, with no added fragrances. It helps increase hair volume, prevents hair loss, and promotes healthier hair growth.
We even picked up two bottles at TWD 2000 (SGD 81.52) ourselves to help prevent hair loss—better to be safe than sorry! It usually retails at TWD 1360 per bottle.
You can also grab the muscle ache relief cream, which provides a wonderfully cooling sensation, ideal for the hot weather. It’s priced at NTD1,000 for three tubes. Additionally, they offer facial masks to pamper your skin. Other items include Watering and Whitening Essence, teas, and premium aromatherapy oils.
Stay a night in a Castle
We strongly suggest spending at least one night here to fully explore the spaces at your own pace. Rooms start from NTD3880 and are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There are only 18 rooms here, ensuring a cosy stay that’s not overcrowded. This will allow you to capture stunning photos of the flowers without competing with day visitors.
Wake up early, take in the fresh air and slowly revisit the garden around the Rose Bar. Bring along a tripod, so you can get your best shots.
Rooms are clean and comfortable providing guests with all the creature comforts of home.
Although the reception isn’t staffed 24 hours, guests have access to bottled water, a shared first aid kit, a hot water dispenser, and an honesty system for cup noodles and other snacks. Additionally, complimentary cookies, snacks, and tea are available in the lobby for guests to enjoy at their convenience.
Bath amenities, including a floral amino acid body wash, rosemary shampoo, bath bombs, and face masks, are provided. Guests can try these products, and if they like them, they have the option to purchase them from the store.
