U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines launched its inaugural flight between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and its second Chinese city, Shanghai Pu Dong International Airport on 16 June 2013. Delta currently flies Seattle to Beijing, Osaka, Tokyo-Narita and Tokyo, Haneda. It also flies direct service from Seattle to Paris and Amsterdam with more than 45 daily flights are operated from Seattle to 18 destinations worldwide.
DL 589 departs Seattle (SEA) at 2.30pm arriving in Shanghai (PVG) the next day at 5.55pm while DL 588 departs PVG at 12.20pm and arrives in SEA at 8.50am the same day.
Delta will fly the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on the new Shanghai service. The 208-seat aircraft has 36 full flat-bed seats in BusinessElite (Business Class), 29 in Economy Comfort (premium economy) and 143 Economy Class seats.
Delta’s partnership with Alaska Airlines offers easy connection times to 58 U.S. cities while Delta’s partnership with China Eastern in China will provide extensive connection opportunities throughout China. The airline and Delta Connection offer service to 328 destinations in 64 countries in six continents.
In Seattle, Delta has added a new Delta Sky Club, new power ports, expanded ticket counters and also renovated the lobby as part of its US$3 billion investment to improve products, services and facilities.
