Closer Than Ever: Qantas Now Flies Direct from Singapore to Darwin

If you’ve been eyeing Australia’s wild and wonderful Top End, there’s now a faster way to get there. Qantas has just launched a new direct flight between Singapore and Darwin, giving travellers a smooth, fuss-free entry point into Northern Australia—no more layovers in Sydney or Melbourne. This route was supposed to launch in December 2024 but was delayed.

The service, which took off on 30 March 2025, operates four times a week. Flights depart Singapore in the evening and arrive in Darwin just past midnight, putting you in prime position to wake up surrounded by Australia’s raw outback beauty. Return fares start from S$434 in Economy, including checked baggage, inflight meals, drinks and entertainment. It’s full service all the way.

For frequent flyers, this route is also points-redeemable. Classic Award seats are available to book, and eligible travellers can enjoy access to Qantas lounges at both Changi and Darwin airports. The flight is operated by a Boeing 737-800, fitted with 12 Business Class and 162 Economy seats.

The new connection boosts trade and business links between Singapore and Australia’s north. Qantas CEO International, Cam Wallace, described it as a smart move that expands access to the region while supporting economic ties. Darwin, after all, isn’t just a frontier city—it’s a growing hub for industry, innovation and Indigenous culture.

And let’s not forget what lies beyond the airport. Darwin is the gateway to some of the most iconic landscapes in Australia—Kakadu National Park, Litchfield’s waterfalls, crocodile cruises, ancient rock art, and that unbeatable Territory sunset. For Singaporeans looking for adventure without the long-haul fatigue, this is your new shortcut.

On the flip side, it also means Aussies have a quicker route into Singapore for a city break. The Singapore Tourism Board has welcomed the move, pointing to the city’s world-class dining, new wellness spaces and recent openings like Rainforest Wild Asia as fresh reasons to visit. At just under five hours flying time, it’s the perfect hop for a weekend escape.

Qantas’ new Singapore–Darwin route is more than just a new flight. It’s a new chapter for travel between two regions that share deep ties. Whether you’re planning a Top End adventure or a city recharge, the journey just got a lot simpler.
