British Airways relaunches its new, dedicated lounge at level three, departure transit lounge at Terminal 1 in Changi Airport this week. This is part of the airline’s S$11 billion investment to improve customer experience in the air and on the ground. The 1,005 sqm lounge opens at 3pm and closes after the last British Airways departure of the day. It is located close to the Qantas lounge. British Airways passengers no longer have to visit the Qantas Lounge anymore with the opening of this new lounge.
The main lounge lets customers work, relax or dine as they choose. There are 185 seats in this area. It features modern British design and style with artwork specially curated based on their links to Singapore from established Singapore and British artists such as Simon Wee and Dr Brendan Neiland.
Fine wines, high quality food and refreshments are available at the buffet counters and the focal island bar with menus specially created by British Airways’ chefs.
Other services available at the lounge include high-speed complimentary Wi-Fi, two desktop positions and a wireless printer, a coat check and baggage storage facility, British and International newspapers and magazines, televisions, washrooms, baby change facilities and showers. There are seven shower suites featuring Elemis products used in all British Airways lounges.
The lounge in Singapore is the first to offer the airline’s new Concorde Bar exclusively for First customers and their guests. The opulent interior with black Nero marble surfaces, European oak flooring and bespoke furnishings compliments the digital panoramic views of the Singapore skyline reflecting the time of the day outside, just like a rotating restaurant. Here, there is a communal bar seating as well as elegant classic wingback chairs, private sofa corners with TV viewing positions and seven private booths to work or dine. There are a total of 41 seats in this area. Eligible customers will be provided with an exclusive passcode to access the area.
With the reconfiguration of the existing space, the seating capacity in the refurbished lounge has an increased seating capacity of 67 seats.
British Airways currently operates twice daily flights between Singapore and London with daily services between Singapore and Sydney. The Airbus A380 services the Singapore – London route three times a week which will be increased to a daily A380 service in December this year.
BA12 services the Singapore – Heathrow route with a Boeing 747 on Thursday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and the Airbus A380 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. BA16 flies Singapore – Heathrow daily on the Boeing 777-300ER.
The Singapore – Sydney route is operated daily on BA15 using a Boeing 777-300ER.
Access to the new lounge is limited to British Airways First and Club World customers, British Airways Executive Gold and Silver members and oneworld frequent flyer members with Emerald and Sapphire status.
As a Gold Member flying to London, First Class, am I allowed to bring a guest in with me (she is flying Economy on the same flight.
It is better for you to check directly with the airline. I suspect the guest can get into the Business Class lounge but not First Class since you are a Gold Star Alliance member.
