All Nippon Airways (ANA) becomes the first airline to have flown 100,000 Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights. Boeing and ANA celebrated this milestone with a gate ceremony at Sea-Tac International Airport in Seattle, Washington.
ANA was the launch customer of the 787 Dreamliner family. In 2011, it was the world’s first airline to introduce this airplane to passengers around the world enabling it to launch new routes globally subsequently. ANA has accumulated approximately a quarter of all 787 revenue flights to date.
The Japanese carrier operates the world’s largest Dreamliner fleet with 44 787s, including the 787-8 and the longer 787-9. it has 39 unfilled 787 orders, including the longest and newest member of the 787 family, the 787-10 including 20 777-9x airplanes.
Last year, ANA also introduced Star Wars themed livery on its Dreamliner creating worldwide interest in its flights. The ANA R2-D2 Dreamliner was in Singapore last year for an activation event. Read about that here.
We have flown ANA’s Dreamliner previously between Singapore and Tokyo. We were not really excited with the non-reclining economy seats. Instead the seat slides forward, reducing legroom. However, the service and meals on board have always been what we look forward to. Friendly and efficient service can be expected onboard from the all-female cabin crew.
