American Airlines To Launch B777-300ER Service Between Los Angeles & Sydney

Qantas welcomes American Airlines flagship Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft to Sydney on 13 November 2015, when American will showcase its award-winning on-board products ahead of its inaugural service between Los Angeles and Sydney.

American has renewed its fleet with a new plane every four days and also made a US$2 billion investment in the overall travel experience, which includes more fully flat bed seats, upgraded aircraft interiors, more international Wi-Fi, more in-flight entertainment options and charging power for customers in all cabins, improved airport experience with faster, more reliable kiosks and refreshed gate and ticketing areas.

American will operate the B777-300ER on its new daily, nonstop flights from Sydney to Los Angeles starting on 19 December 2015, as part of the carriers’ expanded partnership announced in June this year.

It has been more than 20 years since American has serviced the Australia route.

American and Qantas are expanding their joint business by adding two new services between Australia and the U.S.. New routes between Sydney and Los Angeles operated by American Airlines begin 19 December 2016. Qantas’ new service between Sydney and San Francisco will start 18 December 2015. This includes transcontinental services from Los Angeles and San Francisco to New York’s JFK airport on American’s Airbus A321T, the only true three-class domestic aircraft on these routes.  From Los Angeles, customers can connect to more than 50 destinations including New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, Seattle and Vancouver. Qantas also operates the B747 from LAX to JFK.

In Australia, customers have nearly 60 additional destinations throughout Australia and New Zealand when connecting on Qantas’ trans-Pacific routes from Qantas’ Australian hubs.

Both Qantas and American are part of the oneworld alliance.
