This year the WestJet Miracle Christmas goes to the Dominican Republic. Working with Live Different – an organization that works with volunteers to better communities, WestJet created a joyful giving experience, and a taste of Canadian Christmas for the community of Nuevo Renacer, near Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
Last year, the Canadian airline touched customers giving them presents in the WestJet Miracle Christmas campaign. WestJet’s Digital Command Centre and the team of more than 150 WestJetters became Santa’s helpers, delivering personalised gifts to guests arriving in Calgary. You can read about that here.
This year Santa fulfils the wishes of the Nuevo Renacer community including a crib, washing machine, skate boards, a motorcycle engine and even a horse. The team at WestJet also built a playground offering a safe place for children to play. As a result, children have been coming to school early because of the playground and more parents are trying to enrol their kids in this community.
This project is the last of the Blue Santa Trilogy.
