17 January 2012, Sydney – It’s official. After all the bad news about AirAsia X cutting it’s direct flights between Kuala Lumpur to London, Paris, Mumbai and Delhi, this week it has a piece of good news. AirAsia X will be introducing direct Kuala Lumpur – Sydney flights from 1 April 2012 which is possibly around the same time, if not earlier, when Singapore Airline’s low cost subsidiary airline SCOOT will launch its inaugural service.
The daily Airbus A330-300 service will fly to and from Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport providing access to over 80 destinations across 165 routes in Asia and beyond. Sydney will be available for Fly-thru bookings from Indonesia (Bali, Medan, Surabaya & Jakarta), Singapore, Vietnam (Ho Chih Min City). Fly thru lets you seamlessly purchase two flight sectors and connect via Kuala Lumpur.
AirAsia currently flies to Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth. It first launched its inaugural destination Gold Coast in November 2007 followed by Perth and Melbourne a year later. Indonesia AirAsia flies daily flights to Bali from Perth and four times weekly from Darwin.
As part of the launch, AirAsia is offering launch fares to Sydney from Kuala Lumpur from as low as RM199 one way on Economy and from RM999 one way on its Premium Fly Flatbeds.
