19 August 2010, Kuala Lumpur – AirAsia first started flights from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Hat Yai (HDY) on 5 August 2004 but stopped services 1 June 2006 when there were political unrests. 3 years later on 19 August 2010, AirAsia has resumed services to cater to visitors from Malaysia who, I hear, like to visit HDY for the food and to shop.
AirAsia operates a 1 hour 15 minutes daily flight at 11.45am from KUL and back to KUL at 12.35pm.
All in KUL – HDY round trip fare averages RM208.
There is a Merdeka promo currently. See details below.

All in Fare – RM114 (KUL – HDY round trip)
I was fortunate to experience the inaugural flight on AK 770 with 3 other bloggers from Malaysia and Indonesia.
With my fascination of clouds, I couldn’t help snap these photos on my way to Hat Yai. Check out the great view from your window seat.
When the aircraft taxied and we disembarked, we were greeted by a huge welcome committee and members of the Thai media.
We were so engrossed with taking photos, by the time we cleared immigration which took a very long time, our luggage were the only ones left at the carousel. Priority handling with VIP tags weren’t that useful for us in this case.
Here’re AirAsia’s flight schedules for their Hat Yai flights
