Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand expand Singapore – New Zealand services. Air New Zealand’s ‘NZ’ code will return to the Singapore Airlines network since 2007.

Air New Zealand will take over five flights operated by Singapore Airlines and launch two additional daily services between Auckland and Singapore with its retrofitted Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The last time it flew to Singapore was in 2006.

Singapore Airlines will operate its A380 daily between the two cities, replacing an existing daily service with a smaller Boeing 777-300ER.

This alliance will allow Air New Zealand passengers to access codeshare travel on the Singapore Airlines network to UK, Europe, South East Asia and Africa as well as on the network of its regional subsidiary airline SilkAir. Singapore Airlines’ customers would be able to access codeshare travel across Air New Zealand’s domestic network and selected international destinations.

Singapore Airlines’ daily Singapore-Christchurch service would continue as part of the alliance.

Both airlines aim to boost existing capacity between the two countries by up to 30% year round subject to regulatory approvals. Flights could commence as early as December this year.
