Air France will progressively equip 130 aircraft in the Airbus A320 family which includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321 with noise reduction kits from this summer. This will reduce up to eight decibels of noise generated by these aircraft during the descent and aircraft approach, starting from 40km and up to 12km from the runway. Upgrades are expected to begin by June 2014 and complete by end 2015.
In other Air France related news, its business class lounge at Paris-Charles de Gaulle has been awarded the Janus du Commerce prize organised by the French Design Institute. The Janus label recognises the best designs in different areas such as industry, trade, health care, service lifestyle, fashion and innovation. This lounge is located in Hall M and the award was conferred on Air France for the lounge’s upmarket positioning and innovative design. Air France offers the largest Business Class lounge. This lounge for long haul travellers spans over 3,000 sq m.
